  • 2 packages (16 oz) Vanilla
    CANDIQUIK® CandyCoating
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
    (plus ingredients for mix)
  • 1/2 of a (16 oz) container vanilla frosting
  • Oil or powder-based
    yellow food coloring
  • 1 box Nerds® candies
  • 1 package sliced almonds
  • Flower-shaped sprinkles
  • Cake writing icing

  1. Prepare and bake cake mix as directed on box; cool completely. Crumble cooled cake into a large bowl. Mix thoroughly with frosting. Chill for approximately 2 hours in the refrigerator. Roll mixture into 1" sized balls and place on wax paper lined baking sheet.
  2. Melt CANDIQUIK® Candy Coating in Melt and Make Microwaveable Tray™ according to the directions on package. Add yellow food coloring oil or powder-based) until a light yellow, pastel color is established.
  3. Coat cake balls in CANDIQUIK® and set on wax paper.
  4. Before CANDIQUIK® is set, attach an orange Nerds® candy as the “beak” and two orange, flower-shaped sprinkles as the “feet.”
  5. Insert two almond slices into the sides of the cake balls to form the “wings.”
  6. Draw two dots for eyes with writing icing.

TIP: If cake bites become too soft or are not holding their shape while being dipped, place back in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes.
